A new youth-friendly television channel called AccessTV has been launched in Botswana. The channel, which is four months old, is the brainchild of local youths who came together for a cause they feel will make local and international young TV viewers happy.
Susan Benjamin, the Marketing and Communications Manager of Access TV’s station, said: “We realise that people have been looking for variety, that is how AccessTV came into being. Since local TV has been lagging behind in terms of providing youth entertainment and youth friendly programmes, this is what created AccessTV”.
In an interview with biztechafrica, Benjamin said that: “The channel aims to become one of Botswana’s most trusted sources of informative, educational and entertaining content. Our broadcasting and creative departments will be dedicated towards having a constant flow of interesting and exciting programs. AccessTV also broadcast programs from Botswana that reflect innovative and exciting production values”.
AccessTV is the first English and Setswana speaking digital satellite television channel in Botswana. The channel has been designed to cater for viewers of all ages and races throughout the country and offers a unique experience in digital broadcasting. AccessTV broadcasts 24 hours a day and has an estimated audience of 700 000 viewers.
