Mauritania channel defies beIN and airs Euro 2016 matches for free

In a direct challenge to beIN Sports, the holder of exclusive rights to broadcast Euro 2016 in MENA, Mauritania channel 2 has been broadcasting the European championship for free, including the opening ceremony that saw France winning over Romania by 2-1.

Mohammed Amin Shanqeeti, Sports Section Manager at channel 2, said in a tweet: “I assure you we will continue to broadcast all the Euro games for free on our channels”.

Mohammed Amin Shanqeeti also announced via Twitter that the channel would broadcast Albania v Switzerland in French and that the channel had contracted a Moroccan commentator to cover Wales v Czechoslovakia. On June 21, Shanqeeti announced the live broadcast of Croatia v Spain for free.
